Uncompromising design
Unheard of precision. In 1972, we invented the world’s first electronically controlled tangential tracking turntable, and it sounds as revolutionary today as it did then.

Coming full circle
Our signature patterned platter sits centre stage, while an elevated base gives the sense that Beogram 3000c is hovering above the surface. According to the designer, Steve McGugan, the idea was to create the illusion of a floating object. This is classic Bang & Olufsen design language, brought forward.

The designer

Steve McGugan is a Canadian industrial designer born in Vancouver in 1960. He was raised in the
US and attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
He took the bold decision of moving to
Struer and became the first in-house designer at Bang & Olufsen.
Steve was one of the founding members of a small entrepreneurial B&O team named ‘Idea land’
under the leadership of Jens Bang. He stayed with B&O until 1985 and has been the creative source
behind several iconic B&O products such as Form 2, Master Control Link IR sensor, Beogram CD X,
Beogram TX 2 and of cause the Beogram 3000 turntable.
Steve stayed with B&O until 1985 when he moved to Copenhagen and joined David Lewis Industrial
Design where he kept working with B&O industrial design up until 1988 where he founded his own
industrial design studio in Lyngby nearby Copenhagen.
Beogram 3000 – the story behind
The Beogram 3000 was launched in 1985 and represented a new archetype
of the Beogram tangential tracking turntable era following the very
successful Beogram 4000 Series turntables, which were retired from the
market in 1980.
Further advancements in technology allowed for a substantially more
compact design and new functionality such as fully automated electronic
operation and ecosystem integration through the Data Link protocol. The
Beogram 3000 Series also featured the MMC4 pick-up optimized for the
compact design and equipped with an elliptical diamond stylus.
According to the designer, Steve McGugan, the design intent was anchored
in the idea of creating the illusion of a floating object, which called for an
extremely slim and compact product architecture. The silhouette of the
Beogram 3000 Series turntable to this day still stands out as a unique
turntable recognized for its timeless qualities and still appreciated by many.

Past meets future
Beogram 3000c pairs with two Beolab 8 stereo speakers, connecting the past to the rich detail and powerful playback of today.
Spin your albums and stream your music, all in one easy-to-use system.
Less is more
When Beogram 3000 was introduced in 1985, it represented a new archetype of the tangential tracking turntable era. Cutting-edge advancements allowed for a more compact design that revolutionised turntable silhouettes in the years that followed.Today, this slim design is given new life — reimagined in solid walnut and cool aluminium.
